Tugelaweg 39 Amsterdam
Vrouwtje Bierman married Ezechiel Sluijs on July 12, 1916 in Amsterdam. She was born on June 19, 1896 in Amsterdam as a daughter of Levie Bierman and Sara Italiaander and her husband was a son of David Sluijs and Elsje Gans; He was also born in Amsterdam on July 16, 1894 and was a diamond worker by profession. After they got married, Ezekiel and his wife lived at Weesperstraat 108, 4-high. They moved in January 1918 to Nieuweweg 41 in Watergraafsmeer - then still an independent municipality - and in May 1919 to Nieuwe Kerkstraat in Amsterdam. In 1925 they moved to the Tugelaweg, first they lived at no. 36 I and on June 18, 1929 at no. 39 III. Ezechiel and Vrouwtje had two children: on July 1, 1917, David was born in the municipality of Watergraafsmeer and on December 5, 1918 their daughter Sara in Amsterdam. The details of the registration cards of Ezechiel Sluijs and Vrouwtje Bierman from the cartothek of the Jewish Council show that at the beginning of August 1942 they were "restored from deportations until further notice" by the Jewish Council, probably because their daughter Sara, who was still unmarried and living at home, July 20, 1942 had a position as secretary at the Jewish Council; They did not have an official “Sperre”, but Ezekiel also worked at the General Service of the Jewish Council from February 22, 1943. On Sunday, June 20, 1943, the Germans carried out a large and secretly prepared raid, about which the Jewish Council had not been informed. As a result, more than 5,500 Jews were arrested, including Ezechiel Sluijs and his wife Vrouwtje Bierman, who were taken to the Muiderpoort station and further by train to Westerbork, where Ezechiel and Vrouwtje ended up in barrack 60. On June 29, they were both deported with 2,395 other deportees, bound for Sobibor. Upon arrival on July 2, 1943, Ezechiel Sluijs and Vrouwtje Sluijs-Bierman were immediately murdered in the gas chambers. There were no survivors from that transport.
