Markt 54

Heintje de Wit married Abraham Philip Wijnberg on 15 December 1923 in Rotterdam. The Wijnberg-de Wit couple had three children, Philip Abraham in 1924, Mientje Aaltje in 1925 and Aaltje Johanna in 1930, all born in Rotterdam.

Abraham Philip Wijnberg worked as a warehouse clerk, as a traveling salesman and later became a drapery shopkeeper. On February 11, 1920, the then unmarried Abraham Philip Wijnberg came from his previous hometown of Groningen to Rotterdam, where he married Heintje de Wit in December 1923. Abraham and Heintje then moved into a house at Lusthofstraat 135a but moved to Goudschesingel, Allard Piersonstraat and Hugo Molenaarstraat, until they moved to Oranjeboomstraat 89b on 21 May 1932.

On May 29, 1935, the family moved to 10 Hoogstraat in Gouda, but their last known address there was Markt 54, where they settled on October 30, 1939 and as they were registered with the Jewish Council in 1941. The Wijnberg family, except for the son Philip Abraham, was registered in Westerbork on 30 September 1942 and deported to Auschwitz on 2 October 1942.

The then 18-year-old son Philip Abraham Wijnberg was only arrested on 11 June 1943 and transported to Westerbork where he ended up in barrack 63. He was then deported on 29 June to Sobibor where he was immediately murdered in the gas chambers on arrival on 2 July 1943. .

Abraham Philip Wijnberg, his wife Heintje de Wit and their children Mientje Aaltje and Aaltje Johanna were deported from Westerbork to Auschwitz just two days after their registration on 30 September.
Abraham Philip Wijnberg eventually died there on November 30, 1942.

The transport of 2 October 1942 included a total of 1014 deportees. After a stop in Kozel, the 854 who remained in the train were transported further to Auschwitz; the deportation train arrived there on 5 October 1942 and Heintje Wijnberg-de Wit and her daughters Mientje Aaltje and Aaltje Johanna were immediately murdered in the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau upon arrival.
