Den Texstraat 17 Amsterdam
Karel Rozenberg was born in Leeuwarden, so 1884, and came to live in Amsterdam in 1904. He was a watchmaker by profession. He married Betsy Gazan in 1911. She was not a daughter of the Diamondary, but her father had a well -known clothing company Gazan. In 1928 they came to live and work from the Kalverstraat in Den Texstraat. At that time there was a watch and majority, so more trade than manufacture and repair ... But if Karel joins the Jewish Council in the war years as treasurer and head of household of the Jewish disabled, his former work is still described as a watchmaker. Because of that work at the Jewish invalid, Karel and Betsy had a Sperre with even an Ausnahme Schaininigung and they were not arrested .... until the last major raid of 29 Aeptember 1943 when even the chairmen of the Jewish council were arrested. Shortly before that, Karel and Betsy had moved to the Jewish disabled, Weesperplein 1, GGD building, possibly because their house had since been sold and they had to get out of it. Karel and Betsy had a son Heiman and a daughter Eva. They were now married. Heiman lived with wife and daughter in Scheldestraat, they too were arrested and murdered, wife and child in September 1943, Heiman kept it up until 1944. Eva and her husband Jacques de Wilde and their son Isidore of 7 were murdered in July 1943. For example, Karel and Betsy and their offspring were eradicated within a few months. One sister of Betsy, Selina Gazan, married to Hijman de Wind,, however, survived the war and died in 1977 in The Hague. They had a son, Louis de Wind, born in 1912, who also survived the war. In The Hague they continue the clothing company of father Gazan and at some point had 300 employees.
