Rijnstraat 209 Amsterdam
The tragic stories of various Jewish families in the Netherlands during the Second World War. Maurits Judge, born as Chaim Mozes judge in Poland, was registered with his family in Westerbork in January 1943 and later deported to Sobibor, where they were murdered on July 7, 1943. A painting with poppies that remained in their house served as a memento for the next residents. Levie van Kleeff and Maria Goudeket, who lived in the Rijnstraat in 1937, were arrested in 1943 and to Vught and then sent to Westerbork. Maria was murdered in Sobibor on 28 May 1943, while Levie was deported to Auschwitz on October 26, 1942 and died there on 28 February 1943. Alijda Logger, a typist at the Jewish Council, was registered in Camp Vught on 15 June 1943 and sent to Auschwitz on 14 September, where she was murdered on September 17, 1943. The stories of these families are steeped in grief and loss, and illustrate the horrors of the Holocaust in the Netherlands, with memories of the victims who never returned.
