Patersweg 19-21

Rika is the fourth and last child of Mozes Jacob Brandon and Esther Brandon-Beekman. She (October 3, 1926), her brother Hyman Hartog (December 31, 1921) and also her two other sisters, Elisabeth Duifje (May 27, 1914) and Henriette (October 15, 1920), were all born in Amsterdam, as were their parents: yard boss Mozes on May 9, 1890, Esther on February 7, 1891.

On August 13, 1937, the completely Jewish family moved to Dordrecht, to live there on the Patersweg.
A brother of Moses came to live at that address - Philip Mozes Jacob (March 10, 1912) - together with his wife, the Roman Catholic Grietje Vonk (April 9, 1917).

Philip is going to work as a lug in the Zeehaven, in the Dordrecht branch of the Amsterdam old metal trade Muller. Presumably, this is also Moses' office.

Before the war broke out, two children of Moses and Esther were already out of the house and married to non-Jews.
Elisabeth (Betty / Bep) married the unloader worker Jakob Stal (Dordrecht, 29 September 1917) in March 1939.

Henriette married in August 1939 the Roman Catholic Cornelis de Waard (Dordrecht, April 29, 1913), also a loose worker. These mixed marriages have proved their salvation.

On Monday August 2, 1943, Rika literally disappears from Dordrecht, and for good.
In the police report it is noted that at 4.30 am, in the middle of the night, chief watchman C. Maliepaard delivers “the Jewesses Esther Beekman and her daughter Rika Brandon” to the headquarters, after which they are imprisoned “by order of the feldgendarmerie”.
Later that day, at 3.30 pm, they are deported to Rotterdam.
There is nothing to be found in this police report about the arrest of Rika's father and her brother Hyman Hartog, but they found the same thing: destruction.

Hyman appears to have been deported much earlier, to Auschwitz, on September 30, 1942.

Rika's father was murdered in Sobibor on June 4, 1943, her mother and herself in Auschwitz on the same day: August 27, 1943.
