Nathan Hertzberger married Carolien van Boele in 1898, born on October 21, 1874 in Oisterwijk. They have seven children. Simon (1899), Salomon (1901), Sophia (1902), Duke Napoleon (1904), Rosina (1906), Antje (1909) and Maurits (1907). In the 1920s, Simon (Sim) and Salomon (Sally) played football at PSV and EVV. Nathan dies in 1911. Son Salomon {Sal) Hertzberger is a merchant and football player at PSV. The Hertzberger family has good contact with the neighbourhood. It is a friendly family that strictly observes the Sabbath; the girl next door comes on Saturday to turn on the light.
Daughter Sophia gets involved in a tram accident on the Kleine Berg in Eindhoven in 1935 and dies on the spot.
Son Simon dies on 25 November 1942 in Eindhoven.
In 1942, the German authorities want to use the home of the Hertzberger family for the storage of confiscated furniture. The family is forced to live with the Herzberger family at 18 Bondstraat. Carolien Hertzberger-Van Boele and her son Salomon, born on 16 January 1901, were deported on 12 October 1942 from Westerbork to Auschwitz. Carolien is murdered there immediately after arrival on October 15, 1942. Her son Salomon was murdered four and a half months later, on February 28, 1943, in Auschwitz.
Daughter Rosina Hertzberger, born on February 13, 1906, is a housekeeper by profession. She was deported from Westerbork to Auschwitz on 31 August 1942 and murdered there on 3 September 1942. Son Simon died on 25 November 1942 in Eindhoven.
Daughter Antje Hertzberger, born on December 7, 1909, is the only one of the family to survive the concentration camps. Son Simon died on 25 November 1942 in Eindhoven. Both Hertog Napoleon and Maurits survived the war because they were mixed marriages.
In front of Rosina Hertzberger there is another Stumbling Stone in Woudrichem. On the Stumbling Stone in Woudrichem the name is misspelled "Rosina Herzberger".
