Stumbling stone for a resistance fighter.

Hilbert van Dijk owned a pastry shop in Kampen.

As early as the fall of 1940, Van Dijk distributed illegal magazines in Kampen. From mid-1942 he provided assistance to (Jewish) people in hiding. In the course of 1943 he became a central figure in the National Organization for Help to People in Hiding (LO) and a regular visitor to regional and national meetings. He was also involved in some coup cracking.

As the LO became more and more in need of a regular supply of distribution documents, it was decided to centralize the goons operating for the LO, to form new ones and to coordinate the work of the goons. Van Dijk was given central management by the National Knock Teams (LKP), which was established in August 1943.

Van Dijk made contacts with people from the NS and in prisons. He also arranged distributions of voucher cards. Now hiding in Amsterdam, he was LKP delegate in the Kern from March to June 1944 and from June onwards he was a link between the LKP and LO summits. Together with Johannes Post, he organized a robbery of the House of Detention on the Weteringschans in Amsterdam, where many resistance fighters such as Todes candidates were locked up for reprisals. Unfortunately, the robbery failed.

On July 15, 1944 - an hour after the failed robbery - Van Dijk and Post were attacked on the street by the Sicherheitspolizei when she was waiting for a car from their gang. They were not informed of the fatal outcome of the robbery with treason, a shooting and many injuries and arrests. When the car drove into the street at the agreed time and stopped, no resistance fighters got out, but officers from the Sicherheitspolizei.

Van Dijk initially managed to escape, but was soon betrayed by local residents and, injured, overpowered. The next day, he was shot dead with fourteen other members of the resistance before the robbery in the dunes near Overveen.
