NCB-laan 6 Veghel
In 1849 cattle dealer Andries de Groot was churchwarden of the synagogue on Rijkesluisstraat in Oirschot. Andries and his wife Sophia had six children. One of those children was Rosa. She married Barend Meijer, also a butcher's son from Oirschot. The couple has two daughters: Sophia (Fietje) and Babeth (Bets). Bets marries the Veghel butcher Maurits 'Mau' Andriesse. They have a house and butcher's shop in Veghel at No. 5 Sluisstraat and they have a daughter, Rosa (1932) and a son, Barend (1938). Fietje marries Harry Mooij, a doctor in Amsterdam. They have a son, Hans (1928). Rosa and Barend closed their butcher's shop on the Rijkesluisstraat in Oirschot in 1935. The sons-in-law Mau and Harry then decide to have a house built for their in-laws at 6 NCB-Laan in Veghel. The foundation stone for the construction of the house was laid by the grandchildren Hansje Mooij and Roosje Andriesse and incorporated into the front of the building as a memorial stone. The house was given the name 'Huize Oirschot'. A chestnut tree was planted by the terrace next to the kitchen to keep the mosquitoes at bay. This tree is still there. In the course of 1936, Barend Meijer and his wife Rosa come to live in the building. Rosa's brother Job moves in with them. After the death of Barend Meijer in early 1943, the two remaining old people moved in with Rosa's son-in-law Mau Andriesse. Mau was the main representative for the Jewish Council for Veghel and the surrounding area. This allowed him to stay out of the hands of the Germans for a long time, but he suspected that this would not remain the case. In April 1943 he decides to have his family go into hiding. He ultimately saw no solution for Rosa (74) and Job (82). The Andriesse family left without saying goodbye to Rosa and Job, because they were absolutely not allowed to know anything about the planned hiding. Rosa and Job leave Veghel on 9 April 1943 by BBA bus to camp Vught. During her stay in camp Vught, Rosa reached the age of 75. On 9 May Rosa was deported to Westerbork and ended up in barrack 85. Two days later she was deported to Sobibor and gassed immediately after arrival on 14 May 1943. Job was probably weakened on arrival, because he was admitted to hospital barrack 83 in Westerbork. After a stay of 5 days, he was deported to the Sobibor extermination camp, where he was gassed immediately after his arrival on April 30, 1943. He was 82 years old. The Andriesse family survives the war.
