Bergstraat 51 Doesburg
At the beginning of November 1942, there were again roundups. Moses Katz, his wife Sibilia van Dijk and his daughter Johanna were arrested and taken to Auschwitz, where they all died on November 27, 1942. Mozes Katz was a son of Benjamin Katz and Sijbilla Philipson from Doesburg. He married on 9 April 1910 in Doesburg to Sijbilla van Dijk, a daughter of Manus van Dijk and Mientjen Katz. The couple had nine children, of which only Mientjen Eva, Johanna and Roza survived their childhood; their other six children, five boys and one girl, have already died as babies. The three daughters, Mientjen Eva, Johanna and Roza, were murdered during the Shoah, just like their parents. Mozes Katz came from a family with a total of eleven children. Two of these brothers died in Doesburg at the age of 10. Two sisters and two brothers died before the war and one sister is unknown. But Moses himself, his sisters Jetje and Eva and Diena were also murdered during the Shoah. Moses' daughter Johanna lived at home with her parents at 5 Bergstraat in Doesburg. Mientjen Eva was already married and lived with her husband Isaac Velleman and son Mozes in Ellecom en Roza, still unmarried, working as a housekeeper and living in Dieren. Moses Katz, who was noted on his Jewish Council registration card as needing help, his wife Sijbilla and daughter Joanna, who lived at home, were deported to Auschwitz on November 24, 1942 and killed immediately upon arrival on November 27. Mientjen Eva Katz, who was married to Isaac Velleman, was brought in to Camp Westerbork between 3 and 5 October 1942 where they had to stay in barrack 60, on 3 October 5, 1942. On October 9, this family was deported to Auschwitz and on arrival on 12 October 1942 Mientjen Eva and her son Mozes were immediately murdered. Isaac Velleman, on the other hand, still had to perform forced labor and he was killed on January 31, 1943. Roza Katz, who lived independently in Dieren, was brought in on 9 May 1943 from the concentration camp Vught in Camp Westerbork, from where she was deported two days later to Sobibor and was immediately murdered there on 14 May 1943.
