Resistance fighter Irma Speybrouck, living at 36 Bollenstraat and wife of Albert Joye, was arrested like her husband on 10 June 1941 following a protest. Unlike her husband, she was released after only a few days. Despite the risks, she joined the Partisans and, as the person in charge of Solidarity, she collected money to support the affected families and members in hiding. In June 1943, she was arrested again. On 11 December 1943, she is transferred to Germany. On 25 October 1944, she died like her husband, Albert Joye, in the Ravensbrück prison camp.
