Benjamin Herman and Hanna Meijer. Hanna was born in 1878 as the first daughter of butcher Herman Abraham Meijer and his wife Eva Hamburger. Benjamin Herman was born in 1889 as their fourth son. The butcher's family consists of five sons and three daughters. Hanna first works as a shop assistant in her father's butcher shop. After a short period in Rotterdam she returns to Zwijndrecht and finds a job as a housekeeper. All brothers become butchers, except Benjamin Herman. He becomes an office worker and lives intermittently in various places in the country. After some wanderings, Benjamin Herman returns to Zwijndrecht in 1938. His parents are then already deceased. Hanna lives with her brother Benjamin Herman in the butcher shop at 225 Ringdijk, when they are both arrested on 9 November 1942 and taken to the town hall. They are further removed from there and arrive on November 11 in Camp Westerbork. They must take the next transport train directly to Auschwitz, where they will be killed shortly after arrival on 19 November.
