At the outbreak of the war Benjamin van der Sluis, Rosetta (Ro) Ossedrijver and their twins Emile and Elias lived here above the textile company of father. When Ro and the sons are called up to Westerbork in early 1942, Benjamin is probably already there. Friends are still trying to stop Ro from traveling. But she leaves anyway. On October 16, 1942, the whole family is transported to Auschwitz. On the way, Benjamin is removed from the train and put to work at Cosel in Poland. On October 19, 1942, Rosetta, Emile and Elias are gassed. Benjamin dies in March 1944 "somewhere in Central Europe". The Van der Sluis family has only left for six months when the Kalf family moves into the house. Earlier, Lion Kalf, Rachel de Wilde, their daughter Ida and son Alfred Jacques had to leave a house three times. Initially, the family manages to escape the transports. In search of a new hiding place, however, they are betrayed and arrested. On April 27, 1943 they set out from Westerbork for Sobibor. The whole family is murdered there on April 30. In the presence of surviving relatives, Stumbling Stones were placed for both families on 4 May 2016. This happened on the initiative of a friend of the deceased Van der Sluis family.
