Helena van Staveren is born in Utrecht on July 2, 1909. She married Maurits Kiek born on March 19, 1902 in Arnhem. Maurits Kiek first graduated in Delft as an electrical engineer and later as a mechanical engineer, he worked at Philips until his death and with a short break at the Linen factory Elias in Eindhoven. The couple has a son: Abraham, born on April 27, 1934. In 1939, Horst Eichenwald, an eleven -year -old German refugee, lives with the family in the Lijsterlaan for a while. Maurits Kiek dies on October 23, 1940 in Eindhoven. Helena moved to Utrecht on November 18, 1940 with her son. There she married on April 15, 1943 to the Garden architect Salomon Ezechiel Slijper. Helena arrives in Westerbork on November 4, 1943. The deportation to Auschwitz follows on January 25, 1944. Helena Slijper-van Staveren was murdered in Auschwitz immediately after arrival, on January 28, 1944. Her husband, Salomon Ezechiel Slijper, is murdered in Auschwitz on March 9, 1944. Her son Abraham Kiek survives the war.
