Margaretha Zegerius, who was living with one of her sisters, was the daughter of Hartog Zegerius and Susanna de Jong. She married a non-Jewish man in Amsterdam on 25 January 1933, from whom she divorced on 9 May 1940. No children were born of this marriage.
Margaretha remarried on 2 April 1941 in Amsterdam to a non-Jewish man, with whom she was expecting a child. However, whilst pregnant with her first child, she was deported to Sobibor, where she was murdered on 21 May 1943.
Margaretha came from a family of eight children; four of these children died at a young age and three survived the Holocaust. Her mother, Susanna de Jong, died on 3 June 1917 in Amsterdam and her father Hartog remarried on 22 January 1919 to Rachel Dupont. A son was born from that marriage later that year, her half-brother Maurice, who was murdered in Mauthausen.
