The Hönig-Zangens lived in Vienna, from where they came to the Netherlands in 1920. Mirl was registered in the Hague Population Register on August 27, 1920 but Berl and his son Mendel were registered during the 1920/1921 census. From the autumn of 1920 the couple lived at 10 Renbaanstraat in Scheveningen and on 1 January 1921 they moved to 19 Van Tuyllstraat, a side street of Renbaanstraat. “Traveler” was registered as Berl's profession. (later he was a merchant).

On July 19, 1928, Berl, Mirl and their son Mendel left the Netherlands for Vienna, which became their permanent residence. In the period between 1928 and 1940 Berl made several business trips to America.

In 1939 Mirl Zangen returns to the Netherlands and stays at 2 Yperschestraat in Scheveningen. Her mother Reizel Hönig-Araten lives at 125 Scheldestraat above in The Hague and her sisters Channa Lieba and Adele and her brothers Simon Mainca, Lewi Isak, Samuel Schachna and Israel Jacob Zangen also live in Scheveningen with their respective families.

in connection with After the compulsory evacuation of the coastal area by order of the Germans, who were afraid of an English invasion, Mirl Zangen arrived in Gouda on February 25, 1941, where she came to live at 90 Lage Gouwe and on October 23, 1941 at Lage Gouwe 98.

Berl Hönig and Mirl Zangen were arrested on September 18, 1943 in Borgo San Dalmazzo, Italy, north of Nice, in the province of Cuneo, in Italy, where they were interned in an assembly camp. On 21 November 1943 they were taken to Drancy in convoy 04a. And in November 1943 the following jewelry and currencies were taken from Berl: a gold watch, a gold brooch, a gold bracelet, 1,630 Italian Lire, 40 Dutch Guilders, 50 French Francs, and 1 American Dollar.

From Drancy both were forwarded on 7 December 1943 with Convoy 64 to Auschwitz, which arrived there on 10 December 1943. Berl Hönig and his wife Mirl Zangen were presumably murdered immediately upon arrival in Auschwitz.

Their son Mendel Henig survived the Holocaust.
