Tulpenstraat 36 Kerkrade
Mia was born in Amsterdam on 17 July 1941 and soon came from there to Kerkrade to go into hiding here at the address Tulpenstraat 36 from the Nazis. Unfortunately she died on October 16, 1943. The alarmed GP makes a diagnosis of “seizures”. Her foster father Albert Hummel wants to give the child a decent funeral, but fearing the discovery of the woman in hiding, it is decided to bury her body in the garden. After the end of the war, Hummel asks the mayor for permission to rebury the child in the General Cemetery on the Sportstraat in Kaalheide. This is allowed. Mia's father, Salomon Vischschraper (Amsterdam, March 24, 1920 - Buchenwald, May 17, 1941) is a tailor and leather worker. He married Judith Nebbig (Amsterdam, April 26, 1920 - Amsterdam, January 14, 1953) in Amsterdam on January 3, 1940. Together they have two children: Mia and her brother Levie (Amsterdam, May 8, 1940). Salomon is arrested during a raid on February 22, 1941 and dies not much later in Buchenwald. Acute heart weakness is mentioned as the cause of death. Judith and Levie survive the war.
