On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, a "Stolperstein" (memorial cobble) was placed at Morelstraat 18 in Utrecht’s Fruitbuurt to honor Pieter de Lusenet (1893–1942). His granddaughter, Paula, spoke briefly about his life. De Lusenet worked as a carpenter and was politically active—first with the SDAP, then in founding the Independent Socialist Party, and in 1939 he distributed leaflets opposing the NSB. Seen as a leader of the February Strike, he was arrested on March 1, 1941, and released later that month. After a second arrest on June 25, 1941—linked to the German invasion of the Soviet Union—he was deported via Schoorl and Amersfoort to Ravensbrück concentration camp. He died there on June 16, 1942, leaving behind a wife and son.
