He was deputy police inspector and fire chief in Heerlen and was affiliated with the KP-Heerlen, working specifically for pilot assistance (Network Bongaerts - Hannibal line). On November 6, 1943, he was arrested due to provocation by a certain Vastenhout. On November 23, 1944, he perished in the Ladelund concentration camp. After the war, he was posthumously awarded the Resistance Memorial Cross and the Medal of Freedom.
