Hoofdstraat 15-17
Meppel
Benjamin Frank was the son of Samson Frank and Rebecca Stern.
He married Rachel Frank in 1911. The couple had four sons: Samson, Meijer (1915, died after 18 days), Meijer and Bernard.
Benjamin Frank had a greengrocer at 50 Eerste Hoofdstraat in Meppel. He also sold fruit and fish here. The store was also open on Sundays.
Benjamin Frank was a longtime speaker of the Jewish Congregation and, where appropriate, walked out to the cemetery for the funeral procession.
In October 1941, Benjamin Frank's greengrocer was closed and all things were removed from the store.
On July 20, 1942, Benjamin Frank had to report to the labor camp in Orvelte. When he was allowed to go home on leave on October 2, he and his wife were picked up by the police that same night. On arrival at the station in Meppel, the couple remembered that they had forgotten something. They asked an agent if they could return home to pick it up, and the agent gave permission, hoping that Benjamin and Rachel would take this opportunity to run off. However, the couple returned to the station a short time later, with the items collected.
