Maurits Jacob Cohen, a commercial agent, lived here with his wife Branca Cohen-van Amerongen, their daughter Aline Marian, born in 1939, and Lea van Amerongen, an office clerk. Maurits and Branca were murdered in Sobibor on 4 June 1943. From the summer of 1943 Aline was hidden with a family on the Admiralengracht. In early 1944 she was discovered and taken to Westerbork. She was murdered in Auschwitz on 11 February 1944, four years old. Lea was murdered in Auschwitz on the same day.
