Kruisstraat 27a

During the war, three generations of the Andriesse family lived together in the building at Kruisstraat 27a in Eindhoven.

Philipp Andriesse was born on February 15, 1882 in Eindhoven. He is the son of Nathan Andriesse and Cina de Jongh. Philipp is a butcher by profession. On 15 June 1909, he married Berta Franken, ten years his senior.

Berta Franken is born on September 6, 1872 in Emmerich. Born in Germany. She is one of the six children of Eva Gans and Josef Franken. Berta grows up at 6 Tempelstrasse in Emmerich, where her parents also have a butcher shop. Berta attends the Jewish school in her hometown until she is fourteen. Then she goes to work in the butcher's shop of her parents.

Her husband Philipp later also works in the butcher shop. It is not known whether they met there.
Philipp and Berta together have a son: Josef. He was born on April 20, 1911 in Emmerich. Soon after, the family probably moved to the Netherlands.

Josef also becomes a butcher. He must have lived in Oss for a while, because it is known that Josef moved from Oss to Eindhoven in 1935.

On July 16, 1942, Josef Andriesse marries Rachel Zilverberg.

Rachel Zilverberg was born on April 21, 1917 in Tietjerksteradeel. She has four more brothers and sisters. Before she marries Joseph on July 16, 1942, Rachel lives in Amsterdam and works there as a household helper.

Philipp Andriesse arrives in Westerbork on April 9, 1943. He was deported from Westerbork to Sobibor on 13 April 1943, together with his mother Cina Andriesse-de Jongh and his wife Bertha Andriesse-Franken. Here all three are murdered on April 16, 1943.

Jozef Andriesse and Rachel Andriesse-Zilverberg arrive in Westerbork between 3 and 5 October. They were deported to Auschwitz on October 12, 1942. Rachel Andriesse-Zilverberg is murdered in Auschwitz on October 15, 1942, three months after her wedding day.

Josef Andriesse is murdered on February 28, 1943.
