Oosterstraat 21 Warffum
Father Salomon Hartog, who was called Sallie, was a butcher. He was born on July 24, 1901 and was a cousin of Benjamin Broekema, who lived around the corner from him. The butcher shop was behind the house. Sallie's uncle Jesaja van der Hal, who was also a butcher, lived with his family and his brother Hartog at Torenweg, at number 4. On July 10, 1942, Salomon had to go to Westerbork. His heavily pregnant wife and their two eldest children remained in Warffum. On July 16, 1942, Sallie was put on a train to Auschwitz, where he was murdered on August 18, 1942. Three days later his youngest child, Victor Salli, was born in Warffum. Sallie was married to Selma van Dam, who was born on July 27, 1908. They had three children: Rosa Geertje, born March 10, 1934, Comprecht, born January 14, 1940, and Victor Salli, born August 15, 1942. Four months after father Sallie's departure, the rest of the family also had to go to Westerbork. In May 1943, the then nine-month-old baby Victor Salli died there. Mother Selma was deported with Rosa and Comprecht on July 13, 1943 to Sobibor, where they were murdered on July 16, 1943.
