Isaiah, born March 18, 1882, was married to Bertha Dalsheim, born December 9, 1898. They had two children: Goltje, born May 26, 1929, and Jozef Benni, born July 15, 1932.

Isaiah's brother Hartog van der Hal lived with the family. He was born on March 12, 1889.

In 1941 Goltje and her brother Benni were no longer allowed to go to the Public Primary School, after the municipality of Warffum received a letter about this from the Department of Education, Science and Culture Protection. Goltje was thirteen years old when the family had to leave Warffum a year later, Jozef was ten years old.

All residents of Torenweg 2-4 were taken to Westerbork (between the 3rd and 5th) in early October 1942, where they were put on the train to Auschwitz on 9 October 1942. There they were murdered on October 12, 1942.
