What we know is that all six of them - Levie, Ida, Levie Andries, Dina, Ies and Wiesje - have been brought from Amsterdam to Camp Westerbork in Drenthe. They were sent from this camp in freight wagons to the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland on August 17. The lists with their names can be consulted in the memorial museum in Westerbork. It is not known when they died in Auschwitz. Therefore, after the war, one death date was set for everyone who was deported to Auschwitz on August 17: September 30, 1942. Levie van Tijn was 23 years old, Ida van Tijn was 17 years old. Levie Andries van Leeuwen had his birthday in September, when he was probably in Auschwitz concentration camp. He was 25 years old. His wife Dina van Leeuwen-Sanders was 28 years old. Louise Roosje Mesritz-van Leeuwen was 23 years old and Israël Mesritz was 26 years old.

Eva van Leeuwen-van Dijk, who still lived in Monster, was picked up from home in October and taken by train to Amsterdam by a police officer. She was sent to Auschwitz from Westerbork on 16 October. She was murdered immediately after arrival on October 19, 1942.

Gabie and Naatje van Tijn were arrested on October 8 and taken to the police station on Wilhelminaplein, which was only a short walk from their house. Gabie van Tijn was 68 years old and he was ill. Naatje panicked. Then they were put in a taxi and taken to Amsterdam, where they were imprisoned for a few more days. On October 14 they arrived in Westerbork and on October 23 they were deported to Auschwitz. They were murdered there on October 26, 1942.

Roza van Tijn and her husband Levie Izaak de Jong were arrested on June 20, 1943 in Amsterdam, along with more than five thousand other Jews. They were taken by train to camp Westerbork and from there deported to concentration camp Sobibor, on the border between Poland and Russia. They arrived there on July 2 and were murdered the same day. They were able to hide their daughter in Amsterdam just in time. She survived the war.
