Noordersingel 12 Steenwijk
Abraham came from Leeuwarden. He was the son of Hertz Reindorp, a butcher and dealer in grease. His mother was Flora Hamburg. When Abraham was 22 he left for Sneek where he started a butcher's shop. He married the daughter of a butcher, Helena Gosschalk, and from that marriage three children were born, one of whom died in infancy. Helena died suddenly in 1934 at the age of 54. Abraham then sold the butcher shop and left. In Steenwijk he met Emma Stokvis, Herman Culp's widow. Her father, Wolf Stokvis, was a pastor and religious teacher at the Jewish community.
In 1935 Abraham and Emma married. From her marriage to Herman Culp, Emma had a son, Wolf, and a daughter, Martha, who was a piano teacher and played the piano in dance lessons. Emma was on the board of the library and had to leave it at the end of 1940, because she had no Aryan certificate.
Abraham had yet to go to Conrad labor camp when he was already 64. On October 8, 1942, Abraham and Emma died in Auschwitz. Abraham was 64 years old and Emma 63. Abraham's son and daughter died in a concentration camp, as did Martha, Emma's daughter. Emma's son Wolf survived the war.
In 1938, Martha started working as a music educator in the Apeldoornsche Bosch psychiatric hospital. She went into hiding just before the eviction by the Nazis on the night of 22 to 23 January 1943. She was arrested more than a year later in Aalst in Brabant and placed in a penal barrack in Westerbork. Like Anne Frank, she was put on the last train to Auschwitz on 3 September.
