Berkelstraat 15 Valkenburg
Emma Horn was the daughter of Ambrosius Horn and Jetta Hertogs. She was married to Servaas Soesman. The couple lived at 15 Berkelstraat in Valkenburg. On April 23, 1943, Emma Horn died in concentration camp Vught. The children Frits and Rosel Cohen came to the Netherlands in 1939 with a so-called 'children's transport' where they united with their mother. We find Margaretha Abraham, widow Cohen, and the children Frits Cohen and Rosel Cohen at Berkelstraat 15 / corner Maternusstraat. The mother was born on November 9, 1900 in Altenkirchen. Rosel and Frits in Dinslaken on July 20, 1925 and June 10, 1929 respectively. All three end their lives on August 31, 1942 in the gas chambers of Auschwitz. At the same address also Servaas Soesman, born on January 22, 1855 in Meerssen, the son of Ambrosius Lasarus Soesman and Jetta (Henriëtta) Hertogs, and his wife Emma Horn, born April 13, 1870 in Mülheim. Soesman was deported as an 87-year-old. It is said that he was separated from a group of deportees in Aachen and died shortly afterwards. With his wife died on April 23, 1943 in hardship in the transit camp Vught.
