Artur Kant (1904–1942) and Sara Kant, née Lea Spierer (1904/1905–1956), ran a textile and fashion shop in Saalfelden. After the Nazi takeover, their business was targeted for “Aryanization”: customers were publicly humiliated, their assets were seized, and Sara was barred from entering the shop. Artur was deported to Dachau after the November pogrom in 1938 but released in January 1939. Both managed to flee to Palestine in 1939. In Haifa, Artur worked as a shoemaker and later served in the British Army; he was killed in action on 31 August 1942. Sara later sought restitution for the stolen business, but her claim for fair compensation was rejected. She died suddenly in Haifa in 1956. Their property was never justly restored.
