The family, with five children, had lived there since 1919. The father, Fischel Kaczka, earned a living trading in raw products.
At the end of October 1938, the parents, Fischel and Malka Ides Kaczka, were deported to the Polish border at Bentschen. They initially fled to Poznań and in 1940 were forced into the Łódź Ghetto. There, they were presumably murdered.
Their son Gustav had already been in the St. Joseph psychiatric institution in Berlin prior to 1938 due to depression. In 1941, he was transferred to the Jewish Hospital in Berlin-Wedding. In 1943, he was deported to Auschwitz and murdered.
