Abraham de Jong was a diamond worker and a member of the diamond workers' union ANDB since 1898. He married Sara Pop in 1910. They had four children: Clara, Philip Leendert, Leendert Philip and Maurice. For his work the family lived in Antwerp several times; from December 1936 they lived at Krugerstraat 29-II. On 2 October 1942 Abraham was rounded up at the forced digging work in the Amsterdamse Bos. That same evening Sara and Maurice were taken from their home. Leendert Philip, a silk weaver, had to go to the labour camp De Landweer in Appelscha in April 1942. He married Sara (Lientje) Santilhano on 24 July 1942 and was murdered in Auschwitz on 30 September 1942. Of the family only Philip Leendert survived the war. Daughter Clara lived with her family in the Reitzstraat.
