Gertrude Armuth lived for a short time at Dorpsstraat 3 in Blaricum, where Dirk Beek rented out rooms above or near his greengrocer’s shop. She was born in Vienna on 1 December 1901 to Samuel Armuth and Emilie Schwarz. In 1934 she married the advertising artist Ferdinand Alfred “Ferry” Zipper, but the childless couple separated in 1939 after both had fled to the Netherlands. Gertrude, a knitter by profession, first lived in Amsterdam and Huizen before moving to Blaricum in April 1940. In the summer of 1942 she was forced to move to Amsterdam. From there she was taken to Westerbork in August 1943 and deported to Auschwitz, where she was murdered on 3 September 1943, aged 41.
