Adalbert Mayer is born on November 21, 1913 in Spiesen. Born in Germany. He is a merchant by profession.
His brother Hans Mayer was born on October 17, 1919, also in Spiesen, Germany.
They are the sons of Klara Weis and Jacob Mayer. The entire Jewish community of Spiesen had already left Spiesen in 1935. The Mayer family also fled Germany.
In 1940 they come to Eindhoven via Roermond. Father Jacob is a cattle merchant. Sons Adalbert and Hans are also merchants.
Adalbert Mayer lived for a while in Nicolaas Beetsstraat 6. During the war, like his parents and his brother, he went into hiding.
Adalbert is betrayed by a Eindhoven woman and arrested. He arrived in Westerbork on September 18, 1943. Shortly thereafter, on September 21, 1943, Adalbert was deported to Auschwitz. He was murdered there immediately after arrival, on September 24, 1943.
Hans Mayer suffers the same fate. He is also betrayed and arrested. Hans arrived in Westerbork on August 29, 1942. He was deported on August 31, 1942. Hans Mayer is murdered in Central Europe on March 31, 1944.
According to a document from his nephew, which can be consulted on the website of Yad Vashem, Hans was murdered in Fürstengrube.
Adalbert and Hans Mayer's parents survived the war. They settled in Saarbrücken after the war.
