Gortestraat 21 Haarlem
Grietje Gobets, daughter of tailor Joseph Salomon Gobets and Ventster Roosje Offenbach, married the widower Abraham Wallach on 7 May 1902. She grew up with two sisters and two brothers, who were later killed in German camps. The Wallach gobets couple had two daughters: Roosje/Rosa and Sara/Saartje. Rosa married the non-Jewish driver Willem Damsteek in 1929, against which her parents formally did not object, but had difficulty with it. Contact between Rosa and her parents was limited until it was restored a few years before the war. Rosa's family survived the war, although during that period they had to move to Amsterdam and Rosa had to wear a star of Jews. Saartje married Bakker Samson van Gelderen in 1932, whom she had a son in 1933: Salomon. Saartje died at the age of 27, and her husband posted death advertisements. A year after her death, Samson remarried Annetta van Volen Presser. The Wallach gobets couple lived from 1938 at Gortestraat 21 in Haarlem, an address where they had previously lived. After a forced relocation to Amsterdam, they lived at Kloveniersburgwal 17. Grietje was deported to Westerbork on January 30, 1943, and two days later Abraham died in the Dutch Israelite Hospital. Documents from the Jewish Council show that Rosa had contact with her mother in Westerbork, where she sent packages. Grietje was deported to Sobibor on 4 May 1943 and probably died immediately after arrival. Of the 1187 people in this transport, no one survived.
