Klein Heiligland 52 Haarlem
Salomon Mok, a merchant, moved on 5 June 1934 to Klein Heiligland 52rood in Haarlem, together with his family and his sister -in -law Sophia Mok. His wife, Saartje Esther, was a daughter of Philip and Paulina Mok. Salomon had two brothers and two sisters, including his older sister Esther and brother Samuel, who both died in Sobibor. Salomon's brother -in -law Abraham Mok and his wife Frederika lived across the street on Klein Heiligland 51 -Zwart. Another Abraham Mok moved in at Salomon in October 1936 and continued to live until his deportation to Westerbork. Other Jewish roommates were Benjamin Frijda and Hartog van Wassenaar. On Solomon's map of the Jewish Council it is stated that he had reported without a call. His brother Josef Mok, living in Amsterdam, was also deported to Auschwitz. Salomon's youngest child, Philip, survived for some time in Schoorl before being deported to Sobibor in 1943. Salomon, Saartje Esther, Sophia, and Anna van Amerongen, a resident in the Mok family, were deported to Auschwitz on 28 August 1942. Anna's family, the Van Amerongens, also suffered heavily under the Holocaust, with only one brother, Louis, who survived the war. This family history illustrates the tragic impact of the Holocaust on the Jewish community in Haarlem and their connection to the end.
