Margarete Nachmann was born Margarete Gottheiner in Berlin on 26 January 1873. In 1898 she married Rudolf Nachmann, a businessman from Stuttgart. In 1919 the childless couple bought a house at Zeppelinstraße 126 and ran a shop for fancy goods and leatherware. After Rudolf’s death in 1930, Margarete continued the business, but under Nazi pressure she was forced to give it up and sell her home. She later had to move into a Jewish compulsory retirement home in Buttenhausen. In August 1942 she was deported to Theresienstadt concentration camp, and four weeks later to the Treblinka extermination camp, where she was murdered. Descendants of her brother Alfred Gottheiner are expected to attend the laying of her Stolperstein.
