Benoit Felix Catz and Rebekka Abramma Catz-Cohen lived at Torenlaan 15 in Blaricum, where Benoit also had his medical practice. Benoit was born in Tilburg in 1866 and became a doctor after graduating in 1895. In 1898 he married Rebekka Cohen, born in Assen in 1869. They had three children: a stillborn son and two daughters, Irma Rosa and Helma. In 1910 the family moved from Zeeland to Blaricum, where Dr. Catz served as a physician for Blaricum, Laren and Eemnes. During the German occupation, the elderly couple went into hiding at Noolseweg 11, but in July 1943 they were betrayed. To avoid deportation, they took their own lives. Benoit died on 26 July 1943 and Rebekka one day later, in Sint Jan Hospital in Laren. They were buried in Blaricum, accompanied by many villagers.
