Isidoor Cohen and Reinetta Cohen-Vos lived at Koninginneweg 92 in Haarlem from 1919. Isidoor, born in Haarlem in 1880, came from a family of bakers and became owner of Van Dijk’s biscuit and rusk factory “De Volharding,” which he had taken over with his brother Louis in 1904. Anti-Jewish measures placed the company under outside control, and wartime shortages later forced its closure. Reinetta, born in Arnhem in 1883, married Isidoor in 1911; they had no children. In 1942 she was likely arrested during the large Haarlem raid, taken to Westerbork, deported to Auschwitz on 4 September and murdered on arrival, 7 September 1942. Isidoor later tried to avoid deportation by registering at the Dutch-Israelite Hospital in Amsterdam, but was sent to Westerbork, deported to Sobibor on 20 July 1943 and murdered on arrival, 23 July 1943.
