Wilhelm Johannes Josef Brunke, better known as Thaddäus Brunke OFM, was born on 21 January 1903 in Harburg/Elbe. He became a German Franciscan friar and Catholic priest. As a member of the Order of Friars Minor (OFM), he served the Church during the Nazi period and is remembered as one of the Roman Catholic martyrs of that era.
Brunke died on 5 August 1942 in the Dachau concentration camp. Stolpersteine commemorate him in two places: one in front of St Boniface Church in Mannheim, where he had served for many years, and another at his birthplace, Maretstraße 45 in Hamburg-Harburg. The Mannheim Stolperstein was laid in 2010 in front of the Bonifatius Church.
