At Ludwigstraße 10 in Stuttgart-West, the Katz family is commemorated: Rosa, Moritz, Henny and Julius. According to research by Marion Weber of the Stolperstein Initiative Süd, Moritz and Rosa came from Galicia. In the 1920s they ran a shoe shop in Stuttgart. The Jewish family first lived in the Leonhardsviertel and later at Ludwigstraße 10, where Henny was born in 1925 and Julius in 1929. Julius escaped to England in 1939 on one of the Kindertransports. His parents fled to Italy, and Henny later joined them. In 1941 they emigrated to the United States; Julius followed two years later, reuniting the family. Henny Porter, née Katz, visited Stuttgart several times in the 1980s and became a German citizen in January 2025, shortly before her 100th birthday.
