Max and Elsa Sontheimer’s fate was researched by Ute Hechtfischer, coordinator of Stuttgart’s Stolperstein initiatives, and Margret Frenz. Max Sontheimer owned Sontheimer & Cie, a respected Stuttgart wholesale business for ribbons and silk goods. In 1901 he married Elsa Levy from Stuttgart. The Jewish couple lived at Schlosserstraße 23, but under Nazi pressure they were forced to leave their home and later move to Dellmensingen near Ulm. In August 1942 Max and Elsa were deported to Theresienstadt. One month later, in September 1942, they were murdered in the Treblinka extermination camp.
